The Homeschooler's Notebook-Unit Study Helps

Newsletters and Ezines

I have found that signing up for newsletters and ezines can be overwhelming, but they can also be a great blessing. I suggest that you use one email address for all of your subscriptions that is separate from your regular email address or you may find that you lose your emails to and from your friends and family.

You can set up a gmail or yahoo email account and check it only when you have the time to look things over. The key is to not let those large numbers in your inbox overwhelm you. Set a timer for fifteen minutes (or however long you want to sit there reading) and read. You'll find some great bits of wisdom and some wonderful resources. It's just like reading a magazine or a newspaper, only you don't have to figure out what to do with that stack of paper afterwards!

If you decide that you do want to keep something that you read, don't print the whole newsletter. Copy and paste the article you want into a word document and save it into a special folder on your computer. It'll be there when you need it. Be sure to copy the author's name and any copyright information if you plan to use it for anyone other than yourself.

The Dollar Stretcher --there are several newsletters at this website that have absolutely nothing to do with homeschooling, but I subscribe to just about every one of them. I highly recommend them!
